A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) shows long-term pain relief for migraine sufferers.
This study had 249 participants who regularly suffered migraines without aura. They were divided into 3 groups: *true acupuncture *sham acupuncture and *a control group.
The participants kept diaries to record how often they had migraines. While the acupuncture treatment took place over 4 weeks the patients were tracked for 20 more weeks to evaluate the long-term effects.
The result was a significant change in the frequency of migraines in the true acupuncture group.
This is not the first study to provide proof of acupuncture’s efficacy for migraines, not to mention its benefits for pain relief in general. Read this post for more research on acupuncture’s effectiveness at relieving pain.
